Poem of the Week: When Something You Love

When Something You Love
April 21, 2014

When something you love doesn’t love you back,
Sometimes it’s wise to simply walk away.
After all, little’s worth a heart attack.

Once I loved a show, but it soon got whack
And not funny as it’d been in the day.
When something you love doesn’t love you back…

For a while I cried; then I turned my back,
Not giving it a second thought. No way!
After all, little’s worth a heart attack.

Returned to my work to get back on track—
Work that should’ve been done one fateful day.
When something you love doesn’t love you back…

Felt my anxiety fading to black
And thus found more time to kick back and play.
After all, little’s worth a heart attack.

Now that show’s off the air. Good riddance, Jack!
Glad I didn’t sink ‘long with it that day.
When something you love doesn’t love you back…
After all, little’s worth a heart attack.
