Poem of the Week: The ABCs of the Year to Come

Happy 2014, readers!

Sorry I’m a little late in posting this week’s “Poem of the Week” today, but in honor of the year to come, I’ve happened to whip up the following alphabet poem, The ABCs of the Year to Come. Please enjoy!

The ABCs of the Year to Come
December 29, 2013

A is for Apprehension for what’s around the bend.
B is for a new Beginning following the end.
C is for Change—hopefully for the better—in the year ahead.
D is for Determination to see beyond the Dread.
E is for Everything that I could ever want and more.
F is for the Freedom I’ve been so long fighting for.
G is for the Greatness everybody hopes to attain.
H is for the Hope I have that I haven’t labored in vain.
I is for both Impatience and Insecurity
While J’s for Just what I need to know what’s in store for me.
K is for Keeping my chin up in hopes that all turns out well.
L is for Losing my Lunch at the thought of it all going to Hell.
M is for the Migraine I’ve got on account of my droning.
N is simply for No—no more whining, moaning, or groaning.
O is for the Ostracism for which I hope there’s a cure.
P is for the Punishment I hope I’ll no longer endure.
Q is for Quitting—something I know I can’t do right now.
R is for the Redemption I aim to seek—and how!
S is for Something Simple and Special from the days to come.
T is for Trembling at how Tomorrow will turn out for everyone.
U is for all the Ugly times, all water under the bridge.
V is for the Vexation that I’m coping with, smidge by smidge.
W is for Who, What, When, Where, and Why—all beside How.
X is in the eXamination of what my brain looks like now.
Ultimately, though, Y is for Yes—my answer for “Are you ready?”
And you’ll know I’ll be skipping Zs tonight, so please don’t pass me Teddy.

Well, that should do it for this week. Thank you all for stopping by, and in view of this poem very well being my last blog entry for 2013, I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year. Let’s all hope that 2014 will be a year in which things all change for the better and everyone worldwide receives what they deserve. In the meantime, feel free to check out my author pages at Smashwords.com, Amazon.com, and Amazon.co.uk to check out what I have for purchase, and more importantly, as always, happy reading!

  1. Hey! Great little poem you’ve got here. I get your message entirely, too. Hopefully, 2014 will be the year things start turning around for us all.

Good luck with the rest of this blog and with your books! 😀

    • I appreciate the complement, and thanks for the warm wishes. Yes, I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for 2014 to turn out well. I have a good feeling it will, but unfortunately, there’s only one way to find out for sure.

Good luck to you, too, in your endeavors!

  2. I hear you, my friend. 2014 has GOT to be a year of change for all of us. Good luck with your dreams, man.
