Poem of the Week: Let It Go, Let It Go, Let It Go

Happy Holidays, readers!

Now that Christmas is only sixteen days away, I found it only necessary to share with you an old work of mine for this week’s “Poem of the Week”—a piece that isn’t the traditional fare you might have otherwise seen on this site in that it’s actually a song—one sung to the tune of a popular song that’s usually sung around this time of year at that. Therefore, without further ado, here’s a little lighthearted number for you called Let It Go, Let It Go, Let It Go. Please enjoy!

Let It Go, Let It Go, Let It Go*

(*to the tune of “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow”)

December 2, 2002

If some bad memories come a-pining,
And urge you to start crabbing and whining
About something from so long ago,
Let it go, let it go, let it go.

When the news becomes depressing
To the point where folks are obsessing,
Simply say to yourself like so—
“Let it go, let it go, let it go.”

When somebody does some wrong to you
And you’re on the verge of throwing a fit,
There’s only one thing that you can do,
And that is to GET OVER IT!

In a world of tumultuous madness,
Feed yourself a bowlful of gladness
And let this simple message ail your woe:
Let it go, let it go, let it go.

Let it go, let it go, let it go!
